  • My older daughter attended FOC from ages 3-6 and my 1 year old son attends currently. What a phenomenal place! The teachers have taken such amazing care of both our children and treat them like their own. Communication is excellent and I always know my children are in a loving, safe environment. My daughter (now 8) is an amazing reader and I give all the credit to the wonderful teachers she has had there(starting all the way back as a 3 year old). BEST SCHOOL EVER

  • Family of Christ has been a part of our lives for the past 11 years. Our three children attended with the last graduating this past year.

One of our sons began FOC in the 5th grade after receiving borderline ADD diagnosis. Public school wasn't able to give him the extra patience and attention he needed. Principal Snow assured us FOC could and they did. He and our other children were well prepared for advanced placement and honors classes in high school. The principal, teachers and staff were easily accessible for questions and any concerns we had.

FOC has consistently demonstrated a loving, fun, Christian family environment. I would recommend Family of Christ Christian School without hesitation.

  • Our 2 boys attended this school after pulling them from public school because of the declining environment and curriculum. It is a wonderful school that fosters high academics and kindness. It truly is a "family" environment as everyone helps each other and they have many outside school events. They have a terrific sports program that serves as after school day care and the whole school gets involved The pastor Dave Jaara is a fine man and is very involved in the school with his wife Karen. Send your kid. You will not ever look back.

  • My son graduated from Family of Christ in 2013. He started FOC in the 4th quarter of First Grade. Our son has a high functioning form of autism and thrived at Family of Christ. The teachers, staff, family and students embraced him from the first day he started. We switched from a public school as a smaller environment and a smaller teacher to student ratio would help him succeed. We privately coordinated any extra services that FOC may not have been able to provide which included speech and social skills. We enrolled him at FOC knowing, just like his high school, that the school and/or our family would evaluate each year to make sure his needs were being meet. This is a true testament to any school as teachers, administrators and parents need to remember what is the best interest for the child to succeed and do this annually. This is not only for a child with special needs but for any child. We meet with teachers and Mrs.Snow each year to address any obstacles we anticipated and set goals to set Grant up for success. Grant performed well in the classroom and in social circumstances at school.

The teachers at FOC helped prepare him not only academically, but mentally and spiritually as well, for high school. He had the confidence in 8th grade to run for Class President, going up against some of the most popular kids in his class. The environment at FOC, helped foster his comfort and built his self-esteem to do this. I am proud of the foundation he received at FOC as he is graduating from Tampa Catholic this year with currently 3 college offers with scholarships plus two acceptances into the Honors Colleges. One thing I always post of Social Media about his successes is that there were many people that help mold this child.
~ Thank you Family of Christ Staff and Administration for being a part of his life and success. We have been truly blessed.

Not for Children with Special Needs!
After our child was diagnosed with autism while in the public school, we went to the principal, Jennifer Snow, at Family of Christ, to see if they could work with our son. She assured us that they would be a great fit for him, based on the smaller class sizes and the quality of teachers they had. We were so happy find a school that could help and also loved the fact that it was a Christian based atmosphere. He loved it! He attended the second and third grade. His grades were always good and he was willing to do the extra homework that needed to be done to keep up. His challenge was sometimes performing in a classroom setting. Sometimes not staying focused and he would freeze up when it was required to move on before finishing a project, (he believed it must be completed before turning it in). But he completed anything that was sent home. He loved his teachers and the students in every grade knew his name. He loved going to chapel and learning about God. Then at the end of the 3rd grade, we were called in a meeting with Mrs. Snow and his teacher. Mrs. Snow said she felt as a school that could not continue to help him. She felt the four grade teacher could not handle a child with autism. She felt that his year-end testing could hurt their overall school score and they need to maintain the highest grade possible. We were devastated! So we were told we would have to find another school. We said we would do anything to keep him in the school, even if we had to pay extra to offset any cost they may have to make it possible. Our little guy stills talks about how much he loved it and does not understand why he had to leave. For the first time he feels there is something wrong with him, because he could not go there anymore. We have found out since then that this has happened to other families that have children with special needs. We wish we would have never put him in Family of Christ, if we would have known that was their policy. It’s hard to explain to an autistic child that he was not good enough to go to a Christian School. I can’t help but ask “What would Jesus Do” and I think he would find a way to embrace a child who needs a little extra assistance.
Their Mission Statement is: The mission of Family of Christ Christian School is to provide a superior Christian education for our students by assisting Christian families to help their children develop their individual gifts – academic, spiritual, social and physical – in a manner that brings honor and glory to God. I just wonder how God would feel about turning away an autistic child, because the principal was afraid it might bring down the school grade point average.

By the way: His end of the year test scores came back higher than grade level in most subjects. But it was sent to us after we were forced to remove him from the school.
